We are the body of Christ. Every Christian is specifically equipped with a gift by the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:7). As individual members come together, they are fitted and held together according to the proper working of each part. Together, the body grows and builds itself up in love (Eph 4:16). The following are some organized areas of service at FBW. God has gifted this church with some incredible abilities in each ministry.
Deacon Board. The deacons are our spiritual leaders (1 Tim 3:8-13, cf. 1 Tim 3:1-7). As gifted men of dignity, who are above reproach, they lead our church. Along with the pastor, the deacon board ministers to the many needs of the congregation.
Deaconess Board. Similarly, our deaconesses exhibit the highest standards of Christ-likeness (1 Timothy 3:11). Their labor of love produces our many meals of fellowship and ministers to the body in innumerable ways. Their giftedness is displayed through a ministry of love they pour out upon members of the church.
Trustee Board. Our trustees oversee the building and the grounds. Their skillfulness in construction, renovation, and upkeep is evidenced in the way they take care of the stewardship Christ has given them. There is always a project or plan underway and our trustees spearhead each effort from start to finish.
Board of Christian Education. Because the mind is the key to Christ-likeness (Rom 12:2), we take doctrine and teaching seriously. From Adult Sunday School to the Children’s Ministry, our Board of Christian Ed oversees the materials we use. God has gifted our church with individuals who are excellent teachers. By His grace, His gospel is exalted, given ultimate priority in our church as the Board of Christian Ed manages our resources.
Administrative Council. The Administrative Council is comprised of the heads of each of our boards. Together, they keep the church united in task and work together (1 Cor 12:20). The Lord has arranged a gifted, dedicated group of men and women to oversee His church!
